Fog effect: Passengers forced to wait in parked flights for long

Bengaluru: Dense fog disrupted operations of several domestic and international flights at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday morning too. Several passengers complained that they were forced to board flights as per schedule and sit inside for hours awaiting takeoff.
The departure of 67 flights and arrival of 9 flights were delayed while five aircraft were diverted to other airports. Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL)’s data shows since January 1, services of more than a thousand flights were disrupted till date due to bad weather.

On Tuesday, while one Bengaluru-bound British Airways flight from London Heathrow and two Indigo flights were diverted to Hyderabad, two BlueDart flights were diverted to Chennai. Operations were suspended between 5.05am and 6.15am.

“Dang Bangalore fog! Our @British_Airways flight overflew to Hyderabad & now just sitting in aircraft twiddling thumbs. Can step out for at least, a biryani!” wrote Ruma Singh, a passenger of British Airways flight BA 119 London Heathrow – Bengaluru, on Tuesday. The flight, which was scheduled to reach Bengaluru at 5am, came around 9am.
