Fog in Delhi and Bengaluru delays Pune flights

Pune: More than 30 flights to and from Pune experienced moderate to severe delays on Thursday.

Airlines blamed the delays on poor visibility caused by foggy weather.

An official said advisories had been issued about the foggy conditions in Delhi and Bengaluru.

“Most of the Delhi-bound flights, as well as other flights, have been delayed. However, there have been no diversions until now,” an airport official said.

The official added that departures at the Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were suspended for two hours from 7.30am due to the fog, resulting in the diversion of at least eight flights.

A glance at the departures and arrivals of the Pune airport till 3pm revealed that 20 flights to/from Delhi were delayed, while the total number of flights delayed stood at over 30.

Atul Parse’s GoAir flight landed in Delhi after a two-hour delay.
In the slot between 3pm to 6pm, six flights — four from Delhi — faced delays from an hour to four hours. “I have been waiting for my flight to Pune since 2pm and was told it would take off at 6.30pm. This is a highly frustrating. I should have been home by 6pm, but will end up reaching only by 8.30pm,” another passenger said.
