GoAir likely to connect Surat with six cities by March

Surat: One more private airliner is seriously considering to launch flight services connecting Surat with six destinations including Lucknow, Patna and Hyderabad.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials said that GoAir has filed application for slot allotment at Surat airport for commencing flight services after March 31. AAI is set to approve the desired slot for GoAir shortly. Once the slot is allotted, the airline would be able to start flight services as per its convenience.

Talking to TOI, Surat airport director, Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi said, “GoAir has applied for slot at AAI HQ for connecting Surat with other five to six destinations by the end of March. Hopefully the slot will be allotted, but it is up to the airline to actually announce the launch of the services”

Panigrahi added, “If GoAir starts operations sometime after March, Surat’s will become the busiest airport after Ahmedabad. At present, the passenger traffic from airport is 1.33 lakh per month, which may increase to 1.50.”
At present, Surat airport is served by SpiceJet, Indigo, Air India and AirAsia to various destinations across the country.
