Gorakhpur/Lucknow: A Jaguar fighter bomber of the Indian Air Force crashed at Hatempur forest area in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar. The pilot managed to eject safely. The aircraft was on a routine sortie when the accident took place at 11.30am on Monday.
No injury or loss to human life has been reported in this incident. The police are yet to reach the spot. In June, 2018, a Jaguar had crashed in Gujarat's Kutch soon after taking off, killing the pilot.
IG (Gorakhpur range) JN Singh told TOI that the aircraft had taken-off from the Gorakhpur airforce base and was on a regular sortie. It was driven by a wing-commander rank officer. “So far we have not got information about any loss of human life,” said Singh. The name of the wing commander is yet to be ascertained, he added.
It is reported that the pilot ejected safely after the aircraft lost control and crashed, said the police.
