‘Late slot’ hits launching of Goa-Nashik-Hyd flight

Nashik: Private airline SpiceJet’s plans to connect Nashik with Goa and Hyderabad have hit a roadblock as the slot it was given at Goa airport for take-off is at 7pm. At Nashik airport, which is managed by the defence PSU, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), commercial flights are allowed only till dusk.
“Unless the Goa airport authorities advance the take-off timing we will be unable to start the services,” sources in SpiceJet told TOI. The airline officials said they have has taken up the issue with the Goa airport authorities.

This has affected introduction of the Nashik-Hyderabad flight also since the flight from Goa is supposed to fly to Hyderabad from Nashik.

The airline has bagged these routes in the bids that took place under the second phase of the regional connectivity scheme (RCS) of the Union ministry of civil aviation.

“We had envisaged healthy demand for flights to and from Nashik and that was why we identified sectors like Nashik-Hyderabad and Nashik-Goa to start our operations under the RCS. We are keen to start operations from Nashik as soon as possible,” airline sources said.
