Varanasi: Azamgarh police on Monday registered a case against Faiz of Khudadadpur and sent him to jail after he was stopped from boarding Sharjah (Saudi Arab) bound flight at LBS International Airport in Varanasi despite look out notice (LOC) issued against him.
Faiz was booked in a sedition case due to his association with banned outfit of SIMI and allegedly working as sleeper module of terror groups in 2001. Azamgarh DIG Vijay Bhushan ordered SP Azamgarh Babloor Kumar to probe the role of local police after it came to light that Faiz had already visited Saudi Arabia in 2015-16 and worked as a tailor there. Bhushan said that the SP will submit his report within fortnight after which accountability of officials would be fixed for failing in seizure of Faiz’s passport despite issuance of LOC.
