TruJet, Ghodawat Aviation get nod for Kolhapur-Mumbai route

Kolhapur: The much-awaited regular flight operations on Kolhapur-Mumbai route is likely to materialise soon as the ministry of civil aviation has given nod to private domestic airlines TruJet and Ghodawat Aviation to start operations on the route.
The citizens will also have alternatives with flights starting from Belagavi, some 128km from the city, to Nagpur, Nashik, Mumbai and Pune under the regional connectivity scheme, known as UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aaam Naagrik) scheme.

The Ghodawat Aviation will operate flights from Belagavi to Nagpur, Nashik, and Mumbai. While the Pune flights will be operated by Alliance Air, subsidiary of Air India.

According to sources, the ministry of civil aviation and the Airports Authority of India as the implementing agency will release the letter of awards to the selected airlines soon. Focus will be on ensuring early commencement of flights.

Hyderabad -based Turbo Megha Airways Pvt Ltd is a scheduled regional carrier with the scheduled commuter operator permit and is operating under the brand name Trujet.

At present, the Kolhapur airport operates daily flights on Hyderabad and Bengaluru routes, in which over 4,000 passengers have travelled since launching of the flights on December 9, last year.
