Cial to get more CISF personnel

Kochi: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit based at Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) will soon have more personnel to man the airport premises.
Cial, which now has 854 CISF personnel, will have an additional deployment of 507 employees. The decision is in the light of the rising passenger traffic and the opening of new domestic terminal (T1).

The proposal in this regard is currently awaiting clearance from the ministry of home affairs (MHA) and the deployment is expected to take place before Lok Sabha polls.

Once the MHA sanctions the additional deployment, Cial will become one of those airports in the country that are guarded by the highest number of CISF personnel.

“A survey was conducted earlier to assess the requirement and we have submitted the proposal to the central government. It received the requisite approval from the ministry of civil aviation and the proposal is now before the MHA. We hope to have the deployment in a couple of months,” said airport director A C K Nair.
