CISF detects foreign currency worth Rs 23 lakh at Calicut Airport

New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force on Wednesday detected high volume of foreign currency worth Rs 23 lakh at Calicut airport.
According to CISF, at around 0410 hrs on February 13, during Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) through scanning machine at Security Hold Area of airport, a CISF personnel detected high volume of foreign currency in denomination of 1,11,730 UAE Dirham and 11 US Dollars from the hand baggage of a passenger.
''The passenger, identified as Shabab of Kerala, was supposed to travel from Calicut to Sharjah by IndiGo Airlines and when inquired, he could not produce any valid document for the possession of these foreign currencies,'' CISF Spokesperson Hemendra Singh told UNI.
