Customs officer among 7 held at IGI airport for smuggling drones

New Delhi: Customs officials have busted a gang of smugglers and arrested six men with items, including 14 kits of drones, worth over Rs 1.9 crore, from Indira Gandhi International airport on Sunday. A customs official was also arrested.
The gang members later told officials they have smuggled over Rs 7.9 crore worth of items in the last two years. A senior customs official said that six male passengers, holding Indian passports, were arrested with 1,500 cigarettes, 14 drone kits, 18 cameras, MacBooks and liquor bottles.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that one of the customs officers had connived with the passengers in their attempt to smuggle the goods. He was also arrested later.
