Kochi: Customs officials at the Karippur Airport has seized 7.34 kg of gold worth Rs 1.70 crore from nine passengers at the airport.
According to Customs Commissioner Sumit Kumar , the quantity of gold was detected on Tuesday, from nine passengers, when they were to smuggle the gold, in compound form, by making small capsules and inserted them in their rectum.
The Commissioner also pointed out that the smuggling had gone up four times than the previous year.
