Foreign currency seized at Cial

Kochi: In yet another smuggling case reported at Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial), customs sleuths seized foreign currency equivalent to Rs 24.36 lakh from a Tamil Nadu-based passenger on Monday.
The currency was concealed inside a checked-in baggage of Mohal Govindasami (55), a resident of Old Ramakrishnapuram in Tirupur.
He was scheduled to travel to Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia flight. He was arrested and a case has been registered.
In another case registered on Sunday night, officials recovered 490g of suspected gold-paste, which was found concealed in the rectum of a passenger.
The paste-like material, suspected to contain gold, was seized from Hamza Hakeem (50), a resident of Thalangara in Kasaragod, who landed at the airport in an Air India Express flight from Dubai.
