GMR Hyderabad Airport City being transformed as an aerotropolis

The GMR-led Hyderabad Airport City is being transformed as an aerotropolis, with a vibrant business-cum-leisure hub and thematic parks.
The diversified infrastructure company, GMR, has been developing Hyderabad Airport City in the precincts of the Hyderabad International Airport. Hyderabad Airport City would offer an integrated ecosystem with theme-based, anchor-led development zones, which include key ports and establishments, including a Business Port, a Health Port, Education Port, Fun Port, Retail Park, Logistics Park and Aerospace Park, as a multi-product SEZ.

By developing the airport as an aerotropolis, it is expected to play a catalytic role in the growth of Telangana’s economy.

Aman Kapoor, CEO, GMR Airport Land Development, said, “GMR Hyderabad Airport City aims to become an urban conglomeration in South India and its proximity to the airport would open new vistas for international investment.”

French major Safran has located its facility in GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, to manufacture aircraft engines parts, for the LEAP turbofan engine from CFM International.
G.B.S. Raju, Business Chairman, Airports, GMR Group, said, “Safran’s presence adds great value to the niche aerospace cluster, which GMR is developing at Hyderabad Airport City.”
