Gold, foreign cigarettes seized at Mangaluru International Airport

Mangaluru: Customs at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Sunday seized foreign origin gold and cigarettes from two passengers who arrived from Dubai.

In two separate Tweets, Customs stated that gold of 24karat purity weighing 116.55 gm and valued at Rs 3.92 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on Spice Jet flight SG60. The gold was concealed in socks and seven crude chain pieces were stashed in the check-in luggage.

In the second incident, Customs seized 7,176 Gudang Garam cigarettes valued at Rs 1.44 lakh that was concealed in check-in luggage by a passenger who arrived from Dubai on Air India Express IX384 flight.
