Hundreds of passengers affected as flight operators cancel services from Doon airport following tension between India-Pak

Dehradun: As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated on Wednesday, two commercial airlines suspended their flights from Jolly Grant Airport, affecting an estimated 800 passengers.
While IndiGo suspended all five of its flights in which around 700 passengers were booked, SpiceJet cancelled its flights headed towards Amritsar and Jammu which had bookings of over 100 passengers, as per airport authorities.
Speaking to TOI, Jolly Grant Airport director Vinod Sharma said that the flights were suspended due to airspace closure in certain parts of the country. “Two commercial airlines (IndiGo and SpiceJet) suspended their flights from the airport but other airlines like Air India and Jet Airways continued their operations. The airport was also operational throughout the day,” Sharma said.
He added that he did not receive any order from the government to close down the airport. “Some reports suggested that Doon airport was closed but we were operating flights throughout the day,” he said.
