IndiGo coach taking flyers to aircraft hits AI staffer at Bangalore airport

New Delhi: An IndiGo coach taking passengers to aircraft at Bangalore Airport on Saturday evening reportedly hit an Air India engineering staffer, injuring him badly. The accident happened at 6.10 pm when the bus was taking passengers to board the Delhi-bound 6E 2808 that was to take off at 6.55 pm.
A senior AI official said: “Shiv Shankar, a young contractual employee of AI Engineering Services Ltd, was returning to the terminal after despatching our Bangalore-Male flight AI 265. The IndiGo bus hit him and he was dragged for some distance before the bus stopped. He has suffered serious injuries, including lumbar (vertebrae of the spine) fracture. He is in a hospital and we are all praying for his recovery. IndiGo must pay adequate compensation to this young contractual employee, apart from facing the legal consequences.”
A shocked passenger who was on the bus said: “We had boarded the bus and when it started moving, it hit a person on the tarmac. The driver opened the gates and we got off the bus. We could see the person was being taken out from under the bus. I really hope and pray he is alright.”
In a statement, IndiGo said it "confirms the incident involving a ferry coach hit at Bangalore airport on February 23 before the departure of 6E 2808. The staff escaped unhurt with minor injuries. Concerned authorities have been notified and an investigation is currently in progress with full cooperation from IndiGo."
