Jet pilots warn of 'final call' in case of salary default in Feb

New Delhi: With cash-strapped Jet Airways not getting any fund infusion or new investors so far, its pilots seem to be running out of patience. They have warned that if the salary default takes place this month also, they will collectively take a "final call" in March.

National Aviators' Guild (NAG), the union of Jet's Indian pilots, held an open house in Mumbai on Monday where they took this call. It sent an update of the meeting to members on Tuesday, saying: "The company's current situation was discussed, the main subject being default on salary payment schedule communicated to pilots in December.... 25% of November (2018) salary instalment, which was to be paid in January, will be paid on Wednesday (Feb 6)..."

"Jet is in talks with certain investors but the management is silent and no official statement about any agreement has been conveyed to the committee. This, in our knowledge, is due to regulatory requirements. After various deliberations, the final conclusion of Mumbai house was that the committee should continue to engage with the management and express utmost displeasure on the repeated defaults in commitments... it was decided that in case of a default in salary payout committed for February 2019, an open house should be convened in March and pilots collectively would take a final call," the communique to pilots said.
