Chennai: The Madras high court on Thursday imposed 10,000 as cost on a PIL petitioner who wanted an international airport in Hosur, to facilitate export of flowers cultivated in the area.
A division bench of Justice S Manikumar and Justice Subramonium Prasad passed the order while dismissing the plea moved by S Silambarasan of Krishnagiri.
According to the petitioner, as per 2011 census the population in Hosur was 8 lakh.
On July 6, 2018 he made a representation to the central and state governments, including the Airports Authority of India, seeking to establish an international airport in Hosur.
As the representation did not yield any response, he was compelled to move the high court seeking direction to the authorities for establishing an airport in the district.
