Repairs at Mumbai disrupt flight operations

Ahmedabad: As the runway at Mumbai airport is to be closed for six hours a day, over three days a week from February 7 to March 30, the operations of some six flights to and from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport have been cancelled. Officials of Airports Authorities of India (AAI) confirmed that operations of some six flights have been cancelled while five new flights have been added on different routes.

“The runway at the Mumbai airport will be closed from 11am to 5pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from February 7 to March 30. As a result, flights that operated during those hours will be rescheduled. Six flights from the city airport have been cancelled and five more have been added due to sparing of aircraft and aircraft rotation,” said an AAI official.

The flights that have been cancelled include flight 6E-596 operated by Indigo Airlines, which plies between Bengaluru and Ahmedabad along with 6E-3492 which moves from Ahmedabad to Delhi. Other flights which have been cancelled includes 6E-719 Hyderabad-Ahmedabad and 6E-721 which plies from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad.
