Ahmedabad airport handled over 160 international flights in a day

Ahmedabad : With tensions between India and Pakistan escalating along the country’s borders, the Pakistan airspace has remained closed for several international flights operating out of various Indian cities. This has resulted into diversion of several international flights towards Ahmedabad. According to data provided by Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad has handled over 600 flights since February 27. In fact on Sunday alone, 160 international flights were handled at the city airport.
“On account of Pakistan airspace closure, Ahmedabad Airport has handled 160 international flights till now today. Since 27th Feb, total 646 international flights have operated through Ahmedabad airspace,” said a statement issued by AAI.
Most of the flights which were diverted have connected passengers from several Indian cities to US, Canada, UK, Germany, UAE, Nepal, Afghanistan, Russia, Austria, France, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Afghanistan, among others, according to AAI.
