Air connectivity to Belagavi soon

Nagpur: Nagpur will soon be connected by air to new destination Belagavi (Belgaum). This is following the centre approving 30 new routes under the Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN.
After Nagpur-Allahabad Jet services began last year, flights connecting to Belagavi, in Karnataka and close to Maharashtra border, were approved by the union cabinet on the day before code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls came to be implemented.

Under RCS-UDAN, the plan is to connect smaller cities of the country by air. UDAN stands for ‘udega desh ka aam nagrik’ (the common man will also fly).
Flights on the Nagpur-Belagavi route will be operated by Ghodawat Aviation of Kolhapur. The company is currently a small player as compared to major airlines operating in the country.
