Visakhapatnam: Health monitoring of aircraft is equally important in civil aviation sector and the government is also considering this as priority issue by allocating around Rs.400 crores for structural health monitoring program for aircrafts, informed by ISRO Chair Professor and former Director General DRDO noted defence scientist Dr.V.Bhujanga Rao here on Friday at GITAM Deemed to be university campus. He participated as chief guest in Dr.V Bhujanga Rao Endowment Lecture arranged by GITAM Mechanical Engineering Department and Condition Monitoring Society of India (CMSI) at GITAM campus.
While addressing the gathering he said that the country is progressing in automobile manufacturing sector and now concentrating on civil aviation. He informed that condition monitoring is important due to the potential benefits particularly to reduce maintenance budget, enhance productivity. He briefed how the artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning are used in condition monitoring sector. He further informed that in a recent meeting Niti Aayog approved the aircrafts health monitoring proposal. He advised that the university can establish a Centre of Excellence in Condition Monitoring to conduct research and development.
