Chennai: SpiceJet cancelled four flights from Chennai on Thursday after B737 Max 8 aircraft belonging to its fleet were grounded on Wednesday following an order from DGCA. Two flights to Ahmedabad, one each to Kolkata and Coimbatore were cancelled after the airline could not manage alternative aircraft to operate the services.
An airport official said the airline had cancelled one flight on Wednesday.
"The airline is offering alternative choice for passengers. It is bringing other aircraft to operate. We will have to monitor if the cancellation is going to continue," said an airline representative. There were no chaos at the airport as SpiceJet had taken measures to handle their passengers. Jet Airways had already grounded their B737 Max 8 because of financial trouble and non-payment of dues.
