We've been stuck in a rut when it comes to meals on board planes and trains. It feels like they have been the same for a century, and looks like Air India is done with that.
From April 1, 2019, Air India - which spends around Rs 800 crore on catering services per year - is planning to introduce some traditional food to its menu that includes curd-rice instead of green salad on flights to the US. Coffee will be served for business class passengers round the clock, and the best part is that you'll now be able to enjoy Indian sweets that promise you a journey full of mithaas.
Drinks like Aam Panna and Jal-Jeera are going to be the norm and you'll fried food being replaced by upma and poha. It goes without saying that chai will be omnipresent on the flights.
Two courses will be served instead of three and salad will be replaced by mint green and ginger tomato chutneys. Pao bhaji, cutlets, ragda pattice, vegetable upma or vegetable poha will also be available on board.
