Global ticketing firm takes Air India to court

New Delhi: A global ticketing system firm has taken to the Delhi high court over its December 2018 decision to end their 30-year- old association.
Justice Vibhu Bakhru issued a n otice to AI and sought its stand, indicating that the court will also examine the way the decision was reached. On a plea filed by the Indian wing of , the air ticket reservation data provider, Justice Bakhru said in his order, “The respondents shall produce the relevant records with regard to the award of contract on the next date of hearing.”
The firm has argued that Air India‘s decision to have an exclusive global distribution system (GDS) to sell its tickets will not only affect the airline but will also have wider adverse effects. Amadeus also maintained that the national carrier was duty bound to call bids in the form of tenders and that the firm could not arbitrarily be excluded from sale of tickets for domestic flights.
