Trichy: Airport police have arrested a 44-year-old person, a native of Thanjavur, for allegedly travelling to Kuala Lumpur using a passport which was procured using fraudulent documents, on arrival here at the Trichy airport.
According to police, the accused has been identified as S Babu Rajendran, a native of Keeraikadai Lane, South Steet in Thanjavur district.
Babu had gone to Kuala Lumpur on September 24, 2016, by using a visit visa. However, he was not allowed to enter the country by the immigration authorities stating some issues with his passport. Following that the immigration officials from Kuala Lumpur airport had sealed his passport.
Subsequently, he returned to India. Meanwhile, he had again gone to the same country using the same passport hiding the seal, on March 2, 2017, through Chennai airport, the police said. After completing two years there, he returned to Trichy from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia flight on March 3, 2019. However, during the immigration check at the Trichy airport, the accused was caught by the officials. After due interrogation and verification of his passport and documents, he was handed over to the airport police.
