Mangaluru: Airport customs officials nab passenger hiding gold worth Rs 19 lac in rectum

Mangaluru, Mar 16: The customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday March 16 thwarted yet another attempt to smuggle gold.
A passenger who arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight SG60 was apprehended by the officials at the airport.
On screening the said passenger, the officials detected gold concealed in the rectum of the passenger.
The gold was found to be of foreign origin and in the form of powder/paste.
The 23.5 karat gold weighing 632 grams, valued at Rs 19.49 lac was later seized by the officials.
This is the second case of its kind this week. On March 11, the customs officials seized gold worth Rs 15.92 lac, again concealed in the rectum of the passenger who arrived from Dubai.
