Rajagopuram miniature to be installed at airport

Trichy: A scaled-miniature model of the Rajagopuram of Srirangam Renganathar Temple will be installed at the Trichy international airport. The model, with a height of nine feet and costing of Rs 4 lakh, was made by Poompuhar, the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited.
The airport authorities will be place miniature models of Tamil culture in the halls of the new airport terminal building to give a glimpse to international passengers. As the painting works are in progress, the model will be placed on Wednesday, airport director K Gunasekaran said.
The main gopuram of the temple, called Rajagopuram, is 239.5 ft tall. Based on the space available at the terminal building, it was decided to create 9ft tall scaled model, the director said.
