Patna: Budget carrier SpiceJet is set to introduce the first direct flight from the city’s Jayaprakash Narayan International (JPNI) Airport to the Chennai International Airport on March 31.
According to Syed Hasan, SpiceJet’s station manager at Patna airport, “The Chennai-Patna-Chennai flight (SG-736) will take off from the Chennai airport at 6.15pm and reach Patna at 8.50pm. It will leave Patna at 9.20pm and reach Chennai at 11.45pm. It will operate on all seven days every week.”

Bookings for the flight has already begun. A SpiceJet executive claimed, “Tickets for the Chennai-Patna-Chennai flight are available anywhere between Rs 3,601 and Rs 3,859. Other connecting flights can cost up to Rs 10,589 or above.”

SpiceJet is the first airline to launch a direct flight from Patna to Chennai. It is already operating one flight between the two cities via Hyderabad.

JPNI director Rajender Singh Lahauria appreciated the initiative taken by SpiceJet. He said the new flight would act as a boon for those who fly from Patna to Chennai on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, IndiGo airlines is planning to launch a new flight on the Chennai-Patna-Varanasi route soon.
