Trichy: Customs authorities have seized 1.09kg of gold jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh from five passengers including a woman at the Trichy international airport on Tuesday.
According to authorities, based on a tip-off they conducted a check with passengers who arrived at the Trichy airport from Kuala Lumpur by an Air Asia flight on Tuesday night.
They checked four passengers identified as Riaz, Rizwan, Sherif of Chennai and Saravanan from Trichy. During the process they found that they had concealed 600g grams of gold in their belongings. The gold was recovered and authorities are investigating.
