Mumbai: Starting April 15, if you are flying any of Indigo’s 26 domestic flights numbered between 6E 5300 and 6E 5399, then make sure you head to the Mumbai airport’s Terminal 2 at Sahar and not the domestic Terminal 1 at Santacruz.
Indigo which has benefited from the temporary redistribution of slots used by Jet Airways, will operate additional domestic flights to Indore, Nagpur, Varanasi, Kochi, Bengaluru, Vadodara, Patna, Chennai, and Hyderabad from T2.
Since existing flights to the above destinations will continue to operate from T1 and is likely to cause confusion among flyers, the airline on Wednesday sent out mailers and put out announcements on its website.
Vistara and AirAsia India were the first airlines to take up slots vacated by Jet Airways. Since Vistara already operates out of T2, it will not need to make any changes. SpiceJet too has taken slots out of Jet’s kitty.
On April 5, SpiceJet introduced a daily direct flight between Mumbai and Bangkok. “Additional frequencies have also been introduced on the Mumbai-Kolkata-Mumbai (third frequency), Mumbai-Chennai-Mumbai (third frequency), and Mumbai-Varanasi-Mumbai (second frequency) sectors. They will be operational daily and the airline will deploy its Boeing 737 NG aircraft on both the international and domestic routes,” a spokesperson said.
However, a good chunk of slots was taken up by IndiGo. Currently IndiGo flies to Dubai, Doha, Male and Muscat from Mumbai. With the new slots, the airline has announced that it will launch flights to Saudi Arabia from Mumbai. Jeddah and Dammam will be IndiGo’s 17th and 18th international destinations.
