Jet Airways slips out of second spot in Kempegowda Internati

The cash-strapped Jet Airways, which has grounded a majority of its fleet, has lost a position, which it held for the last few years at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
Jet Airways used to occupy the second position in domestic market share during the last few years, but no longer holds that position at the country’s third busiest airport.
The airline had held the position in the last few flights schedules announced by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). During the winter schedule 2017-18, the airline was top domestic carrier after Indigo.
Jet maintained the position in the corresponding schedule-summer schedule 2018 when it along with its subsidiary JetLite held 15.5 % of the total domestic operations. During the summer schedule 2018 also, it was among the top international airline operating from KIA as it along with Emirates, Etihad Airways, IndiGo operated 8.1 percent, each, of total international operations.
This is in sharp contrast to its present situation, where it has cancelled its international route like the Bengaluru-Singapore route. Currently, it operates only international flight from Bengaluru which is the daily 9W235 flight to Amsterdam. During the last winter schedule 2018-19 though there was a dip in its domestic market share from 15.5 % to 13.3 %, it continued to maintain the second spot. However, now as per the latest summer schedule, it has ceded this position to another private airline, SpiceJet.
