Jet’s crisis to become AI’s gain

National carrier Air India is all set to gain as Jet Airways international flights continues to be nonoperational.
With the rescue package for the cash strapped airline still elusive and the suspension of It’s international operations most likely to continue even after April 18, Jet has started to book tickets for its passengers on other airlines.
Since April 11 Jet Airways has stopped operating its sole international flight from Bengaluru-the daily 9W235 flight to Amsterdam. Passengers who had booked tickets for this flight were left stranded and so were passengers of the subsequent days.
With the resumption of flights on this route looking bleak, Jet has started to accommodate its passengers on other airlines including Air India which operates flights to many European destinations like Rome/Milan, Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, Stockholm, Copenhagen and Madrid. For instance passengers who had booked their tickets to Amsterdam for travel during the weekend have been accommodated on these flights.
A passenger who had booked tickets on the Jet Airways flight from Bengaluru to Amsterdam and then a connecting flight to Copenhagen on April 20 has been accommodated on the Air India AI 157 flight to Copenhagen from New Delhi on the same day. Besides, the airline has made arrangements to travel to Delhi. The airline is not charging any additional fares for this arrangement. Air India is expected to gain from this arrangement as its load factor is to go up to about 10 to 12 per cent, said an Air India official.
