The All India Jet Airways and Staff Association (AIJOSA) on Wednesday wrote to the police commissioner of Mumbai, requesting to register a first information report (FIR) against the management of the airline on non-payment of pending salaries.
The employees have also filed a complaint with Mumbai's Sahar police station regarding the same, a copy of which has been sent to the police commissioner along with the letter.
In the letter to the commissioner, the employees said that they met the management of the company on April 12 to inquire about their dues including salary for March payable on April 1. Further, the staff added that they met the CEO as well as the HR department representative along with the committee members on April 25 to discuss the same but were informed that no payment could be expected immediately.
"On being advised that no payment is made we have filed a letter with the Sahar police station copy of which has been attached with this letter for your ready reference," read the letter to the commissioner.
"Resulting out of that same we would like to inform you that non-payment of salary and benefit is a serious violation of Law and we believe is an act of criminal breach of trust considering the employee-employer relationship and an FIR should be registered under various sections as prayed by us," it added.
The employees added that even statutory deductions have not been deposited.
Referring to the past cases, the employees, in the letter, added, "We would like to let you know that in the past aviation companies such as Kingfisher Airlines and Cambata Aviation have not paid salaries/dues to employees and the owners of the companies have fled the country to avoid criminal action. In the circumstances therefore, we pray that our complaint is registered and an FIR action is taken and steps be taken to impound the passport of the Company Chairman, Board of Directors and the Senior Management of the Company as many of them are foreign nationals and working in India under work permit."
