New Delhi: An Indian woman just set a world record by becoming the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean flying solo in an ultra-light aircraft.
Aarohi Pandit recently flew across the Atlantic Ocean and arrived at Iqaluit Airport in Nunavut, Northern Canada, becoming the first woman to do so.
The 23-year-old, who hails from Mumbai, flew solo around the world in a solo year-long expedition and her mission is to empower women and to encourage them to set records just like her.
According to her, flying in her aircraft was just like "riding on a white bird with long wings."
Aarohi, who has been flying since the age of 17, started her journey across Atlantic in Scotland, and took off from Nuuk, Greenland last week on Monday.
She told an international website, "I just want girls, not just in India but around the world, to know that if you can dream it, you can do it. I have seen men doing it. I got the thought that if men can do it, why can't a woman?"
Reportedly, after flying more than 3,000 kilometres across the ocean in extreme weather conditions and harsh winds, Aarohi was glad to make it back it on land.
According to her even though there were many limitation to her journey, as her aircraft is very small and light, it was a fun ride.
