New ATC Tower at Delhi's IGI

Next summer, from your window seat you could watch another aircraft make a parallel landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport alongside your flight.
Common enough abroad in places like San Francisco, it is only now in India that the Airports Authority of India intends to have parallel operations on IGIA’s runways.
The change is expected within six months of the new air traffic control tower becoming operational.
The transition from the old to the new tower will begin on June 15 and is likely to be completed in three months.
With the bird’s-eye view it offers of each corner of the sprawling airport’s operational area, the new tower, equipped as it is with the latest technology, will give a significant upgrade to the air-traffic handling capacity of the airport.
This means IGIA will be able to handle more flights, more safely.
The real and final boost in capacity will come when the fourth runway is ready in about three years.
