Rain in Delhi triggers flight chaos at Amausi

Lucknow: About a dozen domestic and international flights were diverted to Amausi airport after strong showers lashed parts of Delhi on Friday evening. The sudden diversions, which began around 5pm, led to chaos at Lucknow airport as its waiting lounge became overcrowded.

As the airport's hangar became full, six flights scheduled to arrive at Amausi airport in the evening got delayed by over two hours.

By 9.30pm, around 11 flights were diverted to Lucknow and about 800 passengers were stranded at the airport. With no space left in the waiting lounge, many passengers had to wait outside the airport terminal for their flights. Many diverted flights were yet to take off till the filing of the report.
