UDAN to restore air connectivity between Mysuru, Bengaluru

The long-awaited air connectivity between Mysuru and Bengaluru will be realised as flights between the two cities will be launched on June 7 under the UDAN scheme.

Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, has come forward to operate a flight offering 70 seats five days a week. There will be no service on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Bengaluru is the second city after Chennai to be linked with Mysuru by air under the regional connectivity scheme named ‘Ude Desh Ka Nagrik’ (UDAN). Trujet has been operating flights from Chennai to Mysuru under the scheme since last year, and the response to the service is said to be encouraging.

Five cities, including Bengaluru, had been included under UDAN flights from Mysuru. The other four cities are Belagavi, Goa, Kochi and Hyderabad.

Alliance Air had been operating flights between Bengaluru and Mysuru for a few years before the service was stopped. Apart from that, special flights had been operated during Dasara as a tourism promotion drive. The re-launch of commercial flight operations between the two cities is expected to increase tourist footfalls, especially international travellers, besides benefiting businesspersons.
