Vistara offers change and cancellation fee waiver, IndiGo cancels flights due to cyclone FANI

New Delhi: Premium airline Vistara is offering change and cancellation fee for Bhuvaneswar and Kolkata flights for travel between May 2, 2019, and May 5, 2018. This is being done in light of cyclone (FANI) which is likely to impact Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on May 2 and May 3, 2019.

The airline said in its statement, "In light of expected cyclone (FANI) which is likely to impact Bhubaneswar and Kolkata on 2nd May and 3rd May 2019, we are waiving change and cancellation fee for Bhubaneswar and Kolkata flights for travel between 2nd May 2019 to 5th May 2019. Fare difference if any, will be applicable for date changes."
It may be noted that Cyclone Fani, which has intensified into 'extremely severe cyclonic storm', was located around 450 km from Puri in Odisha, 260 km from Andhra Pradesh's Vishakhapatnam and 700 km from Digha in West Bengal at 5:30 on Thursday morning. The extremely severe Fani cyclone is likely to cross Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, near Puri on Friday (May 3) afternoon, with a maximum speed of 170- 180 Kmph gusting to 200 Kmph.

IndiGo airline also announced flight cancellation. It said, "Due to Cyclone Fani, flights to and from Visakhapatnam have been cancelled for today (May 2, 2019)." Passengers can opt for alternate options or get a refund.
