AAI, Punjab govt sign MoU for Ludhiana airport

Ludhiana: The Punjab government and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday signed an agreement for a joint venture for the New Civil International Air Terminal at IAF Station in Halwara.

Earlier, the state government had signed an MoU with the Ministry of Civil Aviation for the ambitious project.
An official spokesperson of the state government on Wednesday said that the agreement was signed by Tejveer Singh, principal secretary, civil aviation for government of Punjab and GD Gupta, executive director of the AAI, in presence of Punjab chief secretary Karan Avtar Singh and AAI chairman Guruprasad Mahapatra.
The spokesperson also said that the project will be implemented through a Joint Venture Company (JVC) which has been formed with the majority stake of 51% of the AAI and 49% stake of the state government thorough the Greater Ludhiana Development Authority (GLADA).
