Aviation security fee hiked from Rs 130 to Rs 150

Bengaluru: Travelling out of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru is set to get costlier with the ministry of civil aviation (MoCA) increasing the aviation security fee (ASF) from Rs 130 to Rs 150 for every Indian passenger with effect from July 1.

This comes on the heels of the nearly 120% hike in user development fee (UDF) at KIA for departing domestic and international passengers. MoCA, on Thursday, held an interaction with airport operators to finalise the standard procedures for collection and utilisation of ASF.
The ASF hike will take effect at airports across the country.
According to travel agents, the impact is expected to be low on domestic travel. But airfare costs between key metros in India, including Bengaluru and a few heavy-traffic West Asian destinations such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which have seen a price rise in recent months after the collapse of Jet Airways, are set to go up further due to the 15% hike in ASF.

As per the document issued by MoCA, the ASF for international passengers is expected to go up from $3.25 to $4.85, effective July 1.
