Flight returns to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after glitch

Hyderabad: A SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad to Bhopal, was forced to return to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), on Wednesday, following a technical glitch. Sources said the incident took place after the aircraft, SG 1268, suffered cabin depressurisation, soon after it took off at 8.25am.
“Not too long after it departed from Hyderabad, the Bombardier DH8-Q400 suffered a snag that led to cabin depressurisation. For the safety of the passengers on board, the flight had to return. The passengers were accommodated on another aircraft that left for its destination at 11.30am,” said the source.

The airline operator refused to confirm this. The official spokesperson maintained the flight returned to Hyderabad “due to a technical issue”. “The aircraft was immediately attended to and is back in operation,” the spokesperson added.

Cabin depressurisation, aviation experts explained, can be caused due to various reasons, such as insufficient pumping of air into the aircraft or structural damage to its body. While it might not have any immediate ramification, it can lead to difficulty in breathing among flyers and risk their safety.
