Hundreds of passengers stranded; Bengaluru-Mumbai flights cancelled

Bengaluru: Hundreds of passengers were left stranded in Kempegowda International Airport, on Monday night, as several flights from Bengaluru to Mumbai were either delayed or cancelled as a result of cyclone Vayu.

Some of the flights were diverted to Surat and Vadodara airports as heavy rainfall and low visibility were recorded at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai.

Over 10 flights between the cities were delayed while a few were cancelled. Reports said that the airlines issued advisories on Tuesday stating that the cyclone might have an impact on the aircraft movement in Goa, Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

The flights that were diverted from Bengaluru include Vistara flight UK 866 and SpiceJet flight SG 456. Delayed flights include AirAsia India flights I5*334 and I5*306, Indigo flights 6E 6794 and 6E 566, Vistara flight UK*854 and Go Air flight G8 526. As of Monday night, over four flights between the two cities were cancelled.

While there were issues regarding the flights from Bengaluru to Mumbai on Monday, the flights between the UAE and India remained unaffected until Tuesday, as per reports.
