Coimbatore: Land acquisition process for expansion of the city airport, which has been delayed for the last four years, will take place soon, collector K Rajamani said here on Thursday.
“The airport will be ready with all the necessary modern facilities shortly as land acquisition works are ongoing at a fast pace,” he said while speaking at the 13th annual general meeting of CREDAI Coimbatore.
The city never waits for governmental intervention for things to move on, Rajamani said. “Various industries and trade bodies have contributed to the growth of the region. Efforts are on to get the defence corridor project going.”
Acquisition for expansion of the airport has been in the works for more than a decade, but there were disagreements over the price. In April last year, 90% of the land owners agreed to the government-fixed price. But the government is yet to acquire the lands.
