Senior aviation official Arun Kumar to hold additional charge as DGCA from Saturday

New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Arun Kumar will hold addition charge as DG of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) from June 1 with current regulator B S Bhullar retiring on Friday. Kumar, a 1989 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, is at present additional secretary and financial advisor in the aviation ministry.
“Kumar has been asked to hold additional charge as DG till the government decides on the full time DG which could also be him. Then the additional charge will become a full time DG posting for Kumar,” say sources.
Bhullar, a 1986 batch IAS officer of UP cadre, had also taken additional charge as DGCA about three years back and then made full time DG. His name is learnt to have been cleared to be the next chief of Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) for five years. However, formal orders of the PM-headed Cabinet Committee of Appointments are still awaited for both Kumar and Bhullar.
