UDAN to go international with SpiceJet's Guwahati-Dhaka flight from July 1

New Delhi: Guwahati will now be aerially linked with Dhaka under the UDAN scheme where a certain number of seats on each flight are sold at subsidised rates. SpiceJet will start this route — the first international under UDAN — from July 1, using its Bombardier Q400.

The airline says this flight will have launch promotional fare (all-inclusive) of Rs 3,355 on Guwahati-Dhaka and Rs 4,432 on Dhaka-Guwahati. Assam government will provide the viability gap funding for this International Air Connectivity Scheme (IACS) flight.

“In addition, SpiceJet has launched 14 direct flights connecting metros and non-metros on its domestic network. All flights on the domestic network will commence operations from June 20 while the international flight is effective July 1, 2019. SpiceJet also announced the launch of new UDAN flights on Bengaluru-Gwalior-Bengaluru and Kolkata-Gwalior-Kolkata sectors. (It) will also introduce new daily flights on the Bengaluru-Belagavi-Bengaluru route,” the airline said in a statement.

SpiceJet chief sales and revenue officer Shilpa Bhatia said the airline “is delighted to launch its first flight under IACS, which will make international air travel much more affordable and convenient for more and more Indians.”
