Amritsar: Visitors to Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International (SGRDJI) Airport have demanded free pick up and drop facility for the vehicles. This facility is available at all international airports in the country
Focal Point Industries Association chairman Kamal Dalmia in a communiqué to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri had demanded the facility at the airport.
He said limited time picking up and dropping off passengers’ facility, lack of cleanliness and rude behaviour of staff had irked visitors.
Free of cost five minutes are allowed after procuring a drop-in token. He said five minutes are not sufficient to offload passengers and their baggage. It also involves locating a luggage trolley and commuting from one place to another.
He demanded that this time should be doubled to 10 minutes. “Forcing the passengers to shell out at least Rs 100 more as drop-in charges for seven minutes is unjustified,” he remarked.
He said the free of cost limited duration parking facility at the SGRDJI Airport must be introduced at the earliest.
Association president DS Goraya said, “The parking contract of the present contractor is due again for renewal on August 1. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) should introduce similar policy of pick and drop of passengers at the SGRDJI Airport, which is applicable in other airports of the country.
