Rajkot: There is some good news for frequent flyers of Rajkot. State-run carrier, Air India has announced additional flight to Rajkot from Delhi from August 1. However, the demand for daily flight from Rajkot to Mumbai is still pending.
According to Airport Authority of India (AAI), Rajkot, Air India flight will depart from Delhi at 12:50pm and arrive Rajkot at 2:35pm. The same flight will take off from Rajkot at 3:05pm and land at Delhi airport at 4:45pm.
AN Sharma, director, AAI, Rajkot told TOI, “After the representation of trade bodies and persuasion of local MP, Mohan Kundaria, the Air India has finally agreed to start additional flight for Delhi.”
Currently, there is only one direct flight to Delhi from Rajkot. Air India also operates one daily flight to Mumbai from the city, but the operation has been suspended from earlier daily to four days in a week till September 15.
Parth Ganatra, vice president, Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “We are happy that city is getting an additional flight to Delhi. But, our original demand for five more flights to Mumbai is still pending.”
