AI plans to connect Rajkot with Mumbai from Sept 27

Rajkot: More good news in store for Rajkot fliers with Air India planning to operate one more flight for Mumbai from next month end.
After it announced starting an additional flight for Delhi from August 1, Air India has shown interest in starting another flight for Mumbai from September 27. The airline, in principal, has agreed to start this flight acknowledging the strong demand of Rajkot’s trade and industry unions and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) for better connectivity.
Currently the only flight from city to Mumbai operated by Air India has been reduced to four days a week only till September 15.
Frequent fliers from the city have been experiencing hard times after Jet Airways shut its operation from the city leaving only the state-run Air India to connect the city to rest of India. Again, of its four flights per day for Mumbai and Delhi, AI reduced it to just two for the last few months.
IATO Rajkot member, Sanjay Mehta, said, “We have been informed that Air India is preparing to start this flight. We will also try to convince other operators to start operation from Rajkot.”
