Aviation ministry to hold spl meet for boosting air connectivity

Aurangabad: The demand for effective air-connectivity for Aurangabad is likely to get the desired push as the ministry of civil aviation is holding a special meeting to explore different options for the city on Wednesday.
As per an official release issued by the state publicity department on Monday, principal secretary of ministry of civil aviation along with public representatives and private operators are scheduled to attend this special meeting.

“The meeting will discuss possibilities of starting flight operations to some of the major cities, including Mumbai, Nagpur, Delhi and Jaipur. All possible measures to make flight operations economically viable will also be discussed during the meeting,” the release said.

Bhagwat Karad, chairman of Marathwada Development Board, said the best use of the central scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) that aims to boost to regional connectivity can be made to resolve the issue of air-connectivity for Aurangabad.
“Reducing surcharge on fuel especially for flight operations meant for Aurangabad could be one of the solutions to make flight operations economically viable. Aurangabad is known as a tourism hub and therefore bound to have effective air connectivity,” he said.
